We went to their house with their adorable kids asleep in their beds but their Christmas Pressies sitting around and their art on the walls (arrghhh, makes me want kids so much but then I slap myself and realise it's not for me). We chatted and laughed, drink a bottle of Shiraz and then got stuck into some Melbac and a glass or two of a fine Madeira too, hahaha.
Mamma-best-friend was the hostess with the mostess and provided tasty, lovely nibbles and cheese and her own handmade chilli jam! played Cludeo. And we all played a board game, Cludeo; it was one of the best nights ever. I swear I loved it, completely at ease, talking about absolutely anything and everything, no holes barred. We even missed the countdown to 2013 because we were giggling and having fun. And you know what? It was perfect, the people across the road also had a mini fireworks display so we had it all :)
For me there is far to much hoopla about the New Year and partying and getting drunk but this was a great comfortable evening of laughter, alcohol and childish fun. If this is any sort of pre-cursor to the year ahead then I am going to find it much more a happier place and I have my friends to thank, and my hubby, naturally.
